Post-Divorce Issues

Once the litigation is over, the parties may find themselves at odds over post-divorce issues. Although the distribution of assets will rarely be overturned, parties may return to the court to:

  • Increase, decrease or terminate alimony.
  • Increase, decrease or terminate child support.
  • Declare children as “emancipated.”
  • Set a selling price for the marital home.
  • Compel payment of outstanding medical bills.
  • Change child custody.
  • Relocate with the children outside of New Jersey.
  • Deal with college or post-secondary educational costs.
  • Enforce compliance of the Property Settlement Agreement.
  • Handle issues involving the death of an ex-spouse.
  • Deal with Bankruptcy of the supporting spouse.
  • Pursue a restraining order due to acts of domestic violence.
